“My art is a reference, a homage to the struggle with colors, shapes, the infinity of a small white wall, optionally a blank piece of paper.

It is a full world, a level that opens up if you want to experience it in the present, like looking up at the sky and discovering new things, such as on buildings or the color gradient of the sun throughout the day. Sympathetic, as with life. In and of themselves, my pictures can be understood as a homage to existence, with all its good and bad.”

DIOK

Dirk Jung has been active as a DIOK since 1994. Starting out in Saxony, he has lived and worked in Hamburg for almost 20 years. As a graffiti artist, he is constantly developing his style, whether on canvas, as a 3D model or wall painting.

In the “Nachtlichter” series, the artist shows his fascination for the interplay between abstraction and clarity. He portrays nocturnal scenes in abstract blurriness, with the concrete image titles giving the scenes a clear definition. DIOK photographs his motifs on night-time walks, processes them on the computer and cuts individual templates. Each picture, created by hand with a spray can, thus becomes an exciting one-off.

Marion Meinberg

Exhibition „IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SWING (The Carousel)“

Meinberg's figurative objects depict five artistic personalities of the 20th century: dance, art, literature, music and theater. Arranged in a semicircle, they symbolically suggest a carousel that embodies both movement and standstill, change and continuity. The combination of papier-mâché and textile creates a unique aesthetic that combines the heritage of the past with the challenges of the present. 

Meinberg is showing large-format paintings explicitly for the exhibition, which take up the movement of the objects in lines and curves.

Stella Jean

18.07 – 23.07 – Vernissage am 18.07 ab 19:00 Uhr

Born in Hamburg, her heart has beaten for art and painting since childhood, a passion that was further deepened by an apprenticeship with an artist during her A-levels. Since then, she has developed a keen interest in design and exclusive interiors and creates works of art to match. 

Her art is characterized above all by structure and depth. Minimalist and in earth tones, she lends her works a calm and natural aesthetic. The use of natural materials in her designs creates a special connection between art and space.

Gerald Bucher

25.07 – 30.07 – Vernissage am 25.07 ab 19:00 Uhr

Born in Styria, Austria, Gerald Bucher lives and works as a freelance artist and photographer in Hamburg.

He discovered the poetry and satirical potential of the everyday for himself early on. “Nothing gets thrown away - things that are left over and seemingly no longer have any use become objects / sculptures” is a basic idea with which Bucher began working on his largest, coherent series to date in 2019. 

Sculptural structures are created from everyday objects torn from their function, which unfold their greatest possible effect in a new interplay. Arranged and staged with the utmost precision, almost pedantry - real and without digital composing, the works, such as “Weintraubentipi” or “Lungenstrudel”, usually express a whimsical humor. 

Thomas Dobberstein

“Photographs are works with light. My tool is not the brush, it is the camera. Holding it at the ready is synonymous with joy, with openness of perception. I am receptive to surfaces that harbor unusual structures. I encounter arrangements that can become compositions. With the camera in my hand, I often perceive my environment in a more focused and abstract way than without it.

The inspiration comes from natural things, the change of aggregate state: just a moment ago a promising cloud, briefly lashing rain, now an incorporated part of the ocean. Or from natural use: once perfectly lacquered, now, through years of hard use, a material landscape that allows a variety of interpretations through wear and erosion.Where the boundaries dissolve, the perspectives escape the standard, that's where the imagination begins.”

Jens Jürgens

Jens Jürgens was born in Munich in 1983 and has now lived with his family in Hamburg-Winterhude for 13 years. Even during his studies, he regularly drew and painted, especially portraits of his fellow students.In addition to designing algorithms for batteries and wind farms, the self-taught artist has also professionalized his artistic activities in recent years.

With his first very successful exhibition at Artstadt (aka Jupiter) in the summer of 2022, he attracted the attention of the Hamburg art scene. His works fascinate the viewer with their authenticity, creative visual language and the high technical level of their realization.

Particularly impressive is his ability to draw the viewer directly into the picture and place them in the middle of the situation depicted. An exciting and varied selection of his latest works awaits you in this exhibition.
