RETROSPECTIVE 25 YEARS
Vernissage: Saturday 06.12.25 from 7:00 p.m.
Opening Hours: Thr & Fr 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In December 2025, MUMA Gallery will present a comprehensive retrospective of the Hamburg artist Konstantin Bax. Under the title „Houses of the Holy“ key works from more than 25 years of artistic creation will be brought together for the first time—from early drawings from 1998 to his most recent compositions in acrylic.
Konstantin Bax is a painter whose work is consistently devoted to the invisible dimensions of reality. Influenced by a unique family history—his father was a frequent guest of the surrealist Salvador Dalí in the 1970s—his path led him early on to the Viennese master painter Prof. Ernst Fuchs, a co-founder of Fantastic Realism, for whom he worked as an assistant for some time.

Influenced by masters of fantastic art, Bax combines the technical virtuosity of his predecessors with an explosive, abstract visual language and a profound metaphysical aspiration in his works.

The core element of the retrospective is his current series of works entitled “Houses of the Holy”—a poetic allusion to the transcendental spaces the artist creates in his paintings and the rock music that inspires him.
Everything is rhythm, vibration, and movement—Konstantin's images are not representations of something finished, but manifestations of becoming, of possibilities, and of development. They appear like living projections of a subtle, dynamic world in which everything seems possible.
Accompanied by quotations and texts, the retrospective not only offers an impressive insight into Konstantin Bax's artistic development, but also into the actual meaning of his work: each painting resembles a traveler's logbook entry, waymarks on the search for a deeper understanding of the universe —and one's own place in it.
Konstantin's retrospective is more than an exhibition—it is an invitation to see the world with new eyes—to connect the mystical, the hidden, and the everyday and understand them as an inseparable unity.
We cordially invite you to join us on December 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the MUMA Gallery at Eppendorfer Weg 235.
